Watch the Blues Slide online guitar lesson by Tom Wolfe from 50 Hard Bop Blues Licks You MUST Know
The major pentatonic scale has some great applications in the blues. While there aren't any blue notes in the scale, it can be used very effectively in a blues progression. This lick emphasizes the major pentatonic scale over the first 4 bars of a blues. The use of octaves and slides to the notes, creates a bluesy effect without the use of blue notes. This type of lick can be found in Wes' playing on many albums.
