Watch the By Myself online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 50 Eclectic Blues Licks You MUST Know
Okay, if you get anything from this course, let it be this!
I have to say one of the most satisfying things for me to do is to play a blues by myself. Not only does it sound great, it builds your internal sense of time, feel, groove, and it also builds your confidence as a player. To be able to sit down and carry a blues with no band is quite a feat. So please go through this.
Check out one of my favorite blues men Lightning Hopkins for a primer on this, also Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Son House, Skip James, Charley Patton, Blind Willie Johnson, to name just a few of my favorites. Also Clapton does some great solo acoustic blues as well. Good stuff.
