Watch the Bendit online guitar lesson by Richard Van Bergen from 50 Down Home Blues Licks You MUST Know

This lick in E contains a lot of open strings and some quarter note bends. Of course a quarter note can’t be found on the fretboard and can only be played by bending or with a slide. Harmonica and horn players can play these notes as well. On a piano you just can’t. In my opinion these quarter notes are an essential part of the blues, because they add such a dramatic feel to it. The second part of this lick connects the 5th and the open position.
