Watch the Let Da Children Boogie online guitar lesson by Richard Van Bergen from 50 Down Home Blues Licks You MUST Know

John Lee Hooker’s first hit single was 'Boogie Chillen', a song he recorded in 1948. It’s basis is a unique groove with a chromatic line. This is a fine example of a bluesman who developed a very personal style within a universal framework. I’ll show you the basic groove, a variation and a trademark accentuated chord John Lee likes to throw in every once in a while. This lick is played in open G tuning: DGDGBD. We're capoed to the fourth fret so the key is B.
