Watch the Slow Standby online guitar lesson by Corey Congilio from 50 Blues Rhythms You MUST Know
I call this Slow Standby because you'll inevitably hear a slow blues and you'll be intrigued by the sliding chord sounds. For years I didn't know that I was actually playing 6th chords and 9th chords in the same bar.
The chord you slide to first is a 6th chord. You then resolve to a 9th chord.
Let's make things easy and focus on the sound of the chord. Think of the 6th as a slightly happier dominant 7th chord! Okay, that's a very elementary way to put it but, hey whatever works right? There are certainly more complicated ways to play a progression like this but, I wanted to start out simply so you understood the concept here.
We'll play some more interesting stuff later. After all we're only halfway through!
