Watch the Beano! online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Sweet Blues Licks You MUST Know

"Beano!" is in reference to the comic book that Eric Clapton is reading on the cover of the seminal record Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. Eric was playing a Les Paul into a Marshall 2x12 JTM45 combo at the time. Apparently, Eric asked Jim Marshall to make an amp for him that he could fit into the boot of his car. The JTM45 2x12 combo then became known as the Bluesbreaker combo to most people due to the record.

This sound was the blueprint for the rock and roll guitar sound. Can't recommend enough, whenever possible, to play through an old-school style amp at volume. It can really help you understand how some of the sounds we hear on these recordings were made.
