Watch the Time Turnaround online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Sweet Blues Licks You MUST Know
I want to share another turnaround that I learned from Clapton from the Cream classic "SleepyTime Time" from the record Fresh Cream. Of course, I'm mixing the major and minor pentatonic scales come up with this classic sweet blues sound.
To make a huge generalization, players like Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn generally stuck to minor tonic blues scales. Not all the time of course, but a good majority of the time. When you compare that sound to someone like BB King, you can clearly hear a difference. That difference is what I call sweet blues licks. As a player, I generally prefer this sound and it's well worth investigating if you're not familiar with it.
