Watch the Begging For Blues online guitar lesson by Robbie Laws from 30 Penta Sonic Blues Licks You MUST Know

A minor pentatonic box pattern #2.
This lick is a wonderfully expressive phrase with a contemplative, restless feel. It’s also really super fun to play, with it’s repetitive motif emphasizing the b5 to the 5 and the b9 to the 9 combination throughout.

You start with a slide on the 8th fret of the G string up to the 9th fret with your 3rd finger, which will garner you the b5th to the 5th notes in the key of A minor (Eb to E). Drop down to the 10th fret of the D string with your 4th finger and on down to the 7th fret of the D string to hit the root note. Now go up to the 8th and 9th frets of the D string sliding with your 3rd finger, then down to the 10th fret of the A string with your 4th finger up to the 7th fret using your index finger. Next, Back up to the D string with a repeating slide from the 8th to the 9th frets using your 3rd finger. Now finishing up on the 10th fret of the A string with your 4th finger, then to the 7th fret with your index finger, grabbing the dominant 7th (G) to the 5th (E).
