Watch the Why Don't You Love Me online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know

The origins of this song can be traced back to Bo Diddley's "She's Fine She's Mine" which is an immensely cool track that must be listened to. One can easily see where the Black Keys may have gotten some inspiration as did many other people as this tune was the precursor to "You Don't Love Me". There are many versions of this tune but most famously is from the Allman Bros. from Live at The Filmore East, the other is Junior Wells and Buddy Guy's take from the legendary Hoodoo Man Blues record. Both of these records are must haves! An interesting thing about this tune is although it is a standard blues form the single note riff is actually a bar of 6/4, and the rest of the tune is back in 4/4. This is one of those tunes that the band must know the form ahead of time or there will be trouble! What is a bar of 6/4? Well, we have 6 quarter notes per bar. It's not all that hard, just count to 6 in time instead of 4.
