Watch the Hoochie online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know

This may be one of the coolest tunes with one of the greatest grooves of all time. Written by Willie Dixon and recorded by Muddy Waters "Hoochie Coochie Man" remains as one of the consummate blues standards. The original was recorded at Chess Records in 1954 with an all star line up of Muddy on guitar and vocals, Little Walter on harp, Otis Spann on piano, Jimmy Rogers on guitar, and Fred Below on drums. A who's who of Chicago blues legends. The classic stop time riff is a little trickier than it may appear as the band has to hit it in unison. That may sound kind of obvious but I have seen a number of train wrecks on the stage on this tune! The trick is to pay attention to the rest of the band, eye contact is key!
