Watch the Check My Baby online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know

"Checkin' On My Baby" was recorded by Sonny Boy Williamson in 1960. Williamson was a harmonica player and singer who recorded for Chess Records and helped establish the Chess and Chicago sound. This tune uses a classic walking blues riff that is used in many tunes. I will say that it is easy to take these feels and grooves for granted because technically this one is not hard to play. But take it from me who has learned the hard way, the feel is everything! That is what makes this music so cool and difficult. I am constantly reminded of this, especially while putting this course together. Feel is everything!
