Watch the I'd Rather Not See online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know

Although "I'd Rather Go Blind" is not technically a blues, it is considered a blues classic so I think it's important to know this one. Originally recorded by Etta James in in 1967 this tune has been covered many times from B.B. King, to The Faces to Beyonce. It is a great tune to break up a set and can really showcase a good singer if you have one. I highly recommend the original Etta James version because she is so amazing. As a player we can have fun with this one by mixing in some of the Hendrix-style chord moves and push the blues feel a bit harder. I suggest playing along with as many versions that you can find to help stretch your vocabulary.
