Watch the Lesson 8 online guitar lesson by David Hamburger from Fingerstyle Blues Handbook 1

These licks in E are basically open-position versions of those electric blues guitar, up-the-neck minor pentatonic licks. If you know any of those, try moving one or two down into the open position. For example, to move a pentatonic lick in A, played out of the fifth position box, down to the key of E, just move the whole thing down five frets, making anything played at the fifth fret an open string, and replacing any bends with slides.
