Having an enjoyable guitar sound is extremely important when practicing. On this track, I have just a touch of overdrive to add some nice sustain and reverb. For example, if you play with a totally dry guitar sound, no reverb, it can be very difficult and no fun. Reverb specifically was created to imitate the natural ambience of a room or hall. If you've ever had the pleasure of playing an amp in a nice room with good acoustics, it's a joy. Since most of us are practicing (at this point) in front of our computers, we don't have that luxury. So, set up the guitar sound that is inspiring to play.
