Watch the Lick Study 5 online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Beginner Blues-Rock Soloing

Okay, I admit it, this one is kind of tough. It's something similar to what you might hear Albert King play. What's that I hear? You're not familiar with Albert King? Well, you must remedy that immediately. Certainly one of the greatest blues guitar players, Albert King was a huge influence on both Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray. So much so that the first time I heard Albert King I was shocked at how much he sounded like Stevie Ray. Now, now, I love SRV, but Albert's influence is undeniable.

True story: Albert once asked Stevie Ray to help pay for one of his records. Apparently Stevie paused for a minute, and Albert looked him in the face and said, "Ya know you owe me."
