"Southern Comfort" could be any number of Southern rock tunes due to its chord progression, but two songs that come to mind, maybe in different keys, are "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker band. This is also a very similar sound to a number of Allman Brothers tunes. The scale of choice here is major pentatonic. I cannot think of a better chord progression in which to practice this over.
