Here are some standard chord substitutions that leave us with a new progression. (If you are playing with a band, you want to let them know that you are changing these before you begin). This is an example of how to add the F# chord, which is the II major; the V of V(The V chord in the key of V.) Notice how the F# leads to the B, which in turn leads to the E (down an octave).
