Watch the Standard Tuning online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from 30 Beginner Slide Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know

Our final series of examples are demonstrated in standard tuning, which to my mind is another in the three essential tunings one should examine when learning to play slide guitar. The advantage of using standard tuning is that all of the notes, scales, and chords are located and formed in the manner most of us are accustomed to; the disadvantage is that the sound of slide guitar itself is strongly associated with open tunings, so we have to find ways to emulate that 'open tuned" sound when playing slide in standard tuning.
