Watch the Pony Expression online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from 30 Beginner Slide Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know

As we have seen with a few other licks, a great technique to use when playing slide licks is to repeat a phrase an octave higher or lower that the range in which it was initially played. Here, I take Lick 23 and, after playing it as it was originally played, I move it down one octave to the lower strings. Moving licks through different octaves in this way is a staple of the slide work of the late, great blues guitar master, Johnny Winter.
