Watch the 12 Bar Lick online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from 30 Beginner Slide Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know
It's time to take a handful of the licks and phrases that we've focused on and apply them to an entire 12-bar blues progression. This 12-bar "solo" begins with the Elmore James-style lick over the I chord, E, but, the second time through, I end the lick with a slightly different phrase in order to "resolve" or finalize the idea. The idea is then applied to each of the three chords.
In truth, it would be unusual to play a slide solo and restrict the musical information to a single repeated phrase that is replicated three times, but I've presented it in this way so that you can focus on the many specific details in articulation that the lick incorporates.
