Watch the Sliding In To Home online guitar lesson by Fareed Haque from 30 Beginner Jazz Licks You MUST Know

Once again, this lick can work on many chords: Dm or G7 or B 1/2 Diminished or Db7alt or F major 7.

Since each of the minor 9th licks above can work on a dominant 7th chord, one good way to practice them is to play them on a blues. Use one of the previous blues jam tracks and use each lick on each of the blues chords (the I, IV and V). Once you can play the licks, then mix and match ‘em. "Sassy Slap Down" on G7, "Pushin' the Ninth" on C7, "Sliding In To Home" on D7, or any other combo you like. There's no right or wrong so long as it sounds good to you (and your fans!).
