Watch the Rods Boogie online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Bass Guitar 4: Groove Vocabulary

Rods Boogie - Groove 44 is a video guitar lesson presented by Andrew Ford and is sourced from 50 R&B Bass Grooves You MUST Know.

This groove is based on the bass lines found in several of Rod Temperton's many hits with Michael Jackson or his own group Heatwave. His verse basslines would sometimes have a strong hook quality and be very pattern oriented as I tried to do with this line, and then he would use a more busy bass line on the chorus. Sometimes, as in Michael Jackson's "Thriller", he would use the same strong bass line for the verse and chorus. This bass line is a 2 bar motif that plays over the bar line for a nice effect.
