Watch the Reggae-Mon online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Play Bass Guitar 4: Groove Vocabulary

Reggae-Mon - Groove #34 is a video guitar lesson presented by Stu Hamm and is sourced from 50 Pro Bass Grooves You MUST Know.

When you listen to the classic bass lines from Bob Marley and the Wailers and others, they are almost like mini symphonies -melodic, well structured and long-evolving. Elements of this island music have crept into music of all styles, especially in England with post-punk bands like The Police, so once again, it will be beneficial to you as a bass player to be somewhat familiar with the style. Notice that the bass never plays on beat 1 in this groove, and it may bend you and the listeners ears the first time that you hear it. This is a very fluid music, and notice how the bass can lean forward into the beat at some parts, and lean back in others to give it a unique feel.
