Watch the Quarter Notes online guitar lesson by Stu Hamm from Learn Bass 1: First Steps for Beginners
In a bar of 4/4, we have four quarter notes. So, when we play a whole note, it takes up four beats or a full bar. Thus, each quarter note will get one beat. Let's work on playing whole notes to half notes to quarter notes.
We'll be playing an open A, playing one whole note, two half notes, and then four quarter notes, then cycling through it the other way. This will help you develop the coordination and timing needed to start playing some music.
