Watch the Aeolian Mode online guitar lesson by Stu Hamm from Stu Hamm U: Fretboard Fitness

The Aeolian is the 2nd of the minor scales that we come up with discovering our modes/chord scales. With your hand in the same position, start the pattern with your little finger (I was gonna write "pinky" but thought better of it) on the 12th fret octave E. The difference between this minor scale and the Dorian is that the Aeolian has a flatted 6th as well as a flatted 3rd and 7th. There are many different fingerings for this scale, but this one fits nicely into our patterns in this exercise.
