Watch the Slow Burn online guitar lesson by Andrew Ford from Blues Bass Survival Guide

In the intro, bar 1, there is a bouncy rhythm going from E down to B on the A string. This is done with a pivoting motion and has to swing. Bar 3 of the intro uses our pivoting technique discussed in the essential concepts section, here we use the note A as a pivot. Really make those dotted quarter notes sing out, warm tone and legato. Extra effort may be required to make the high notes, like the E in bar 9 sing out. That is why I opted to play those notes up around the 12th fret on the D and A strings, it helps me to get a warmer tone. And of course in bar 11 we have the 1, 3, 5, b7 motif. We end this one with a 5-4-1-5 turnaround using long triplet figures and chromatic leading tones.
