Watch the Stormin' online guitar lesson by Andrew Ford from Blues Bass Survival Guide
This might be referred to as a "Stormy Monday" type blues, a well known blues song that anybody playing the blues is required to know. Sometimes "Stormy" is played as a slower 12/8 groove, other times like this next example as an up tempo shuffle. We will incorporate breaks, accents, and traditional band kicks or unison riffs in the second 12 bar phrase of this groove. This example also uses an alternate set of chord changes incorporating a walk down in bar 7 that sets up a minor chord in bar 9 and finally a set of turnaround chord changes in bars 11 and 12.
