Watch the 1-5-6-4 Samba Groove online guitar lesson by Andrew Ford from Bass Groove Survival Guide

All latin grooves are not interchangeable. Just like R&B, Jazz, Country, or most any other style, there are many sub-styles within each style that have there own characteristics. A samba groove is different than a bossa nova which is different than a salsa groove, bolero, mambo, cha-cha or cumbia. As you play this samba groove that we will study, notice the differences between it and, let's say, the salsa groove we covered earlier. There are definite characteristics of each. I have written this groove in 2/4, a common time signature for sambas.
