Watch the Minor Pentatonic Scale online guitar lesson by Stu Hamm from Stu Hamm U: Bass Basics
Now let’s move on to the Minor Pentatonic Scale. These five notes have fueled many a Bass Player and created tons of bass lines that you will recognize. We’ll start off with basic exercises to get our hands and ears used to the scale. The fingering that I have chosen to show you incorporates a slide with the little finger, we’ll be using this a lot in future exercises, so let’s get comfortable with it! After we are comfortable with this, I’ll show how you can extend the scale using the same hand postion, this will help a lot when you solo. We end with a jam using different variations of the Minor pentatonic Scale - see how many bass lines that you know that you can pick out.
