Watch the Swing Groove Part 2 online guitar lesson by Stu Hamm from Stu Hamm U: Bass Basics

Ok, you’ve agreed to keep an open mind to learn how to construct and play a walking bass line, so how do you go about it? We’ll talk about how to figure out which notes you have to choose from by figuring out the correct scale that matches the chord symbol. We’ll then talk about using those scales to construct a nicely flowing walking bass line that outlines the chord changes and leads smoothly into the next change as you approach it. We’ll put it all together using terms that we have learned to play an arrangement of Exercise #2 using a vamp, the 2 feel and a tag ending. I’ll be here all week, try the veal!
