Here we will learn about Bass TAB, which is another way to notate what you are going to play. Some people are sort of “Anti-TAB” because it lets you learn music without actually having to be able to read music! While I understand and partially agree with this train of thought (TAB should never be used as an excuse NOT to learn to read written sheet music) it does have its uses. What TAB does is notate exactly where on the neck each note is played, and I demonstrate how the same note can be played on different parts of the neck. In this way TAB becomes a useful tool in teaching technique and fingering, as the notes sound drastically different depending on where on the neck they are played.
