Watch the Slip and Slide online guitar lesson by Andrew Ford from 50 R&B Bass Grooves You MUST Know

Now we have a repetitive but infectious E minor dance groove that uses a fill with a slide up and trill to end each phrase. The bass line drives the whole song here and needs to stay solid and funky, it is based on the song “Slide” by Slave. We need to nail that low E at the start of each bar and follow with a bouncy riff adding the notes A, the 4 and G the minor 3rd. The rhythm is not difficult but the goal is to have the big hit on 1 and then make those other rhythms dance and not lose the bottom or the groove. We end the pattern with a slur from D, the b7 to E, the root and do a slide from G on the D string to high G at the 12 fret of the G string.
