Watch the Chucks Bounce online guitar lesson by Andrew Ford from 50 R&B Bass Grooves You MUST Know

This groove is in the spirit of the pioneer of the Washington DC based Go-go Groove, Chuck Brown. A lot of space in this style with drums and percussion being the primary rhythm instruments. The swing factor in this style really sets it apart. All the rhythms are swung in this line. Bass normally does some sliding in this style also, there is a slide here on the and of 3 in bar 1. There is also a 16th note triplet riff at the end of the phrase that includes notes not in that bars chord, C7, but these Db based group of notes lead chromatically back to the D7sus that starts the groove. These kind of tension producing phrases can add color to your bass lines
