Watch the Tri it. You'll Like It online guitar lesson by Freekbass from 50 Freekbass Licks You MUST Know

With this lick I am keeping in the similar mode as the last lick, creating a groovy bassline, that is also melodic. I wanted to show in the simplest way how to create this using some of the techniques we have already talked about.

To start, my note choices, I just picked 4 chord changes (Gm, Cm, Am, Dm). Nothing too deep, just using the root, third, 5th, and octave. For me, I remember as a kid always practicing scales and arppegios, triads, etc. But when it came time to making a bassline out of that I was always confused. I thought I had to turn into Beethoven all of a sudden. What I found out, is sometimes, what seems obvious and simple, is the way to write a good bassline, thus on this one, just using the root, 3rd, 5th, and octave.

As you see/hear I am again using a double-thump technique with some plucking at the turns out pretty nice, nothing fancy, but in some songs, sometimes simple is best.
