Watch the Flat 5 Journey online guitar lesson by Freekbass from 50 Freekbass Licks You MUST Know
With this lick I am using my favorite interval the flat 5 or the tritone. Starting on an F# on my E string with a double-thump then a ghost mute, I then pluck the octave on the D string. Next I thump, with an upstroke the C, or flatted 5th. Next I am going to an E on my D string with a pluck and finish with a 16th note double thump on low C to the octave C on the G string with a pluck.
The flatted 5th is such a cool note, because if you play it in kind of run like this (quick example) it sounds more bluesy, but if you play it isolated in a line, it becomes more monster movie.
