Watch the Easy Bounce online guitar lesson by Freekbass from 50 Freekbass Licks You MUST Know

With this lick I am doing a pretty easy line moving between some chords of A to C to G. What makes this hopefully a little interesting is the bounce. With my left hand, to keep the notes short and staccato-like, almost like a horn-lick, I am bouncing my hand on and off the fretboard between each note.

I have found when you are doing a lick similar to this in any kind of ensemble it will make your notes both blend and yet stick out at the same time so they do not get lost in the mix. The trick is to make every bounce and note even. It also creates a kind of "pushing" feel. Not speeding up, but kind of pushing the groove forward. A good technique to use on a final chorus or a vamp to end a song.
