Watch the Swamp Groove online guitar lesson by Jasper Mortier from 50 Blues Bass Licks You Must Know
This lick gives a chance to study the late Keith Ferguson a bit more and his effort to get a supercool old school feel and tone. Of course other things helped Keith getting his sound too: Keith liked the old pre-57 p-bas with a single coil (mine is a reissue from 71 called the Telecaster bass) strung with huge flatwounds and he often played through guitar amps like a Fender Showman for recording to get more air (and less strict fundamentals) in his sound. See also lick 23. While this all adds up - the main way to get a particular sound is with your hands and fingers!
