Watch the Lucy Goosey Funk online guitar lesson by David Santos from 50 Bass Grooves You MUST Know
This is reminiscent of a classic New Orleans style of rhythm and blues. There are 16th note triplets being implied throughout. The piano carries the basic rhythmic and melodic information while the bass gives it a solid feel by holding down the "one and the three" of the groove in a funky and slippery root and fifth fashion. There are ghost notes and passing notes here and there and subtle touches that really make a difference in making it swing and flow in a loose way. The drums are swinging right along. These grooves are meant to be kind of sloppy in their very elusive and beautiful simplicity. Not so simple as one might think.
