Watch the Chicago Shuffle online guitar lesson by David Santos from 50 Bass Grooves You MUST Know
This is a very important bass line. It is built from the blues box. The blues box is a shape on the bass and guitar that consists of the low root, the fifth, the flat 7th and the high root (or octave of the low root). There is a chromatic passing note that can be used inside the box, right beneath your middle finger. It is the flatted fifth or sharp 4th. The ending of this piece uses a chromatic line from the third to the fifth, to a flat seventh lick to take us home. That's the only time we leave the box.
