Watch the Left Hand Triplets online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Modern Mountain Banjo: Clawhammer & Up-Picking

The easiest way to play triplets is with left hand techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, open string pull-offs, and alternate string pull-offs. It generally means that your right hand can keep the same motion going and there is no interruption of the groove. We'll go through some simple exercises, showing a few different combinations of these techniques. We'll start by dividing one beat into three equal parts, so a regular triplet. Later on, we'll look at quarter triplets, dividing two beats into three. We're doing this one in Triple C tuning, so CGCC with pedal G.
