Watch the Cabin in Caroline online guitar lesson by Ben Wright from Bluegrass Banjo for Guitar Players

Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs met each other when they joined Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys in 1946. Earl's distinct banjo sound and Lester's smooth vocals helped create what many people consider the first instance of real bluegrass music. They left the band in 1948 and started their own band, The Foggy Mountain Boys. This tune a favorite. Please make sure you study their songs and Earl's banjo playing. It's square one for bluegrass banjo players.
