Watch the Blue Moon of Kentucky online guitar lesson by Ben Wright from Bluegrass Banjo for Guitar Players

Blue Moon of Kentucky is arguably the tune that made Bill Monroe famous. Elvis Presley recorded it in 1954 and launched it into national popularity. Make sure you go back and listen to Bill's version of it. It's a great example of his beautiful tenor voice and penchant for writing really catchy and simple tunes. For that matter, make sure you listen to a lot of Bill Monroe. He's the father of bluegrass, after all.
