Watch the Stereo Strum online guitar lesson by Denny Sarokin from Songwriter's Guide to Great Guitar

Listen to the different tones when you play over the sound hole (more bass) or behind the sound hole close to the bridge (twangier). Play the root bass note over the sound hole and skip over the middle strings to play the chord on the top three treble strings -this eliminates a lot of the boomy, mid-range overtones, making the bass note clearer and the chord punchier. It’s almost like a call (bass note) and response (chord), or a two player stereo effect.
