Watch the Open D Slide online guitar lesson by Richard Gilewitz from Acoustic Slide Guide

Open D Slide Exercise One - is a twelve measure exercise and one of the simplest in this collection involving the very basic movement of the slide moving either one or two frets up the neck allowing the student to identify ‘targeting’ locations as they develop hand/eye coordination. The greatest challenge is to avoid a rattle on the frets under the neck as well as avoiding the slide touching the 2nd string. The picking hand creates the backdrop of a simple alternating bass during the slide movements.
