John Lee's Boogie Breakdown
A boogie is another great groove that you can play in a slap-style. It's a shuffle feel played at medium or up tempo and in John Lee's Boogie we'll feature some of the riffs the late great John Lee Hooker used to play. Although he didn't use a slap style in his playing, a boogie is such a driving rhythm with accents on the 2 and 4 that it is ideal for this percussive style. Listen to John Lee Hooker and especially his hit Boogie Chillin' for inspiration. Like many of John Lee's boogie's, we're in the key of A.
