Watch the Frail Away online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Slap, Frail, & Thump
The frailing style used in 'Going Down That Lonesome Road' is rather crude; there's only a bass melody going and the chords are only frailed (up or down). There's not a melody 'on top' of the chords. If we combine this style with a finger picking approach we can get the best of both worlds. You'll have the percussive frailing and a clearly audible melody on top. In 'Frail Away' that's just what we'll do and we'll also hear what happens if we slow the frailing movement down a bit. We're capoed on the 3rd fret and we're in the key of G (relative to the capo).
