This version of Jelly Roll Blues is based on a piano roll made by Ferdinand "Jelly Roll' Morton, who claimed to have invented Jazz on a hot summer afternoon in 1902. The first great composer of Jazz, Morton was a virtuoso pianist, band leader, gambler, and all around hustler who honed his skills in the sporting houses of New Orleans' legendary Storyville district.
