Watch the Add Full-Barre Chords online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Acoustic Rhythm Guitar Cookbook
If playing these chords is challenging for you at first, think about the advice I shared — you don't have to press down on all the strings, just the ones that aren't being pressed down by your other fingers. Try this. The other thing that helps is...well, you guessed it – practice! Take notice of tension in your wrist, arm, stomach, feet and anywhere else in your body that may be "clenching" as you tighten your grip to get the barre chords. A great way to practice is by finding just the right amount of tension you need to get the notes sounding clean...and not one bit more. Relax, breathe and find that place. With practice and just enough pressure, you will gradually build strength and barring will get easier.
