Watch the Open D (DADF#AD) Blues online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Open Tuning Handbook: Rhythm

For the blues segment, Level 1 and 2 will focus on the common I-IV-V blues progression. We'll leave behind our beautiful diatonic chords and instead use bar chords. Level 1 uses the palm muting technique and some simple 3rds and walking bass notes in the turn around. Level 2 we focus on a triplet or shuffle feel and continue working with palm muting of our 6th and 5th strings. We've added some walking bass lines. Level 3 is an etude made of only 2 chords with a more Latin feel and incorporates some body percussion. (Due to its simplicity and groove, this progression is great for jamming, scatting or melody writing!)
