Watch the Rasgueado Technique 1 online guitar lesson by Tierra Negra from New World Flamenco
Rasgueado is the strumming technique most closely associated with flamenco. Unlike ordinary strumming, which is typically done with a pick, the thumb, or the entire hand moving as one, Rasgueado strumming uses the fingers of the right hand in rapid succession.
For Rasgueado Technique 1, rest your thumb on the low E string for stability. Then, allow your (I)(M)(A) fingers to unfurl like a fan across the strings.
To end a song with a flourish, try combining this Rasgueado strum with Golpe Technique 3 - striking the stop of the guitar with the thumbnail.
